VIDEO: Flat Self-steered High Gain Antennas for 5G Networks & Devices

by Blogs & Opinions
Article ImageResearch engineers at the Queen's University Belfast have developed a flat, self-steered high gain beam antenna for 5G networks, where users can expect faster data transmissions.

This antenna doubles the range of normal omnidirectional antennas, so mobile operators can fill the gaps in their geographical coverage, even switching to satellite in hard to reach areas.

These prototypes operate at 30 GHz and 20 GHz, tracking in all directions in real-time and offering a massive improvement for IoT applications.Their compact size allow these antennas to be embedded in 5G smartphones. This solution won the Gold Prize at the 2018 GSMA Mobile World Scholar challenge.
