Could connectivity challenges make the autonomous vehicle industry stall out?

The 5G Exchange's Diana Blass speaks with Doug Dawson, president of CCG Consulting, about the many roadblocks to making the widespread use of autonomous vehicles a reality.

Dawson says there are three approaches to supporting the connectivity requirements for autonomous cars to operate connectivity via 5G, car-to-car communication or the utilization of an on-board supercomputer. He explains the challenges to each approach such as the operating costs consumer could bear, and environmental interferences that could impact the ability of cars being able to communicate with each other.

For more on Dawson's view on 5G and autonomous vehicles, take a look at his article, The Myth of 5G and Driverless Cars.
